On Tuesday 09 April, Christos Kiriazis comes for the first time to the Main Stage of Gazarte, for a special evening where the sounds of Balkan and ethnic music will meet modern jazz and will stir us up!

Christos Kiriazis, welcomes us to Gazarte’s Main Stage for a live show full of Balkan and cinematic ethnic music and challenges us to witness a unique spectacle – when body and wind instruments merge until one becomes an extension of the other.

He was born in Patras in 1992 and is a graduate of the University of Epirus and Istanbul Teknik.

His live debut started after the formation of the band “Dysanatolia” and the collaborations that followed were with many well-known Greek artists such as Anna Vissi, Melina Kana, Leonidas Balafas etc.

a tribute concert to PINK FLOYD!

 

After the impressive and warm response of the audience for GREAT GIG’s first show in Athens, we are pleased to announce that we are adding a second date, Sunday, March 31st!

 

GREAT GIG, the biggest Pink Floyd tribute band in Greece, with a non-stop successful nineteen-year run, will appear for the first time in Athens on Saturday, March 30th at the Main Stage of Gazarte for a unique, almost three-hour audiovisual show of exhilaration, excitement, retrospection and projections into the future.

With a very carefully selected program they will offer us an exciting journey through the greatest tracks – milestones from the entire PINK FLOYD discography accompanied by projections that turn every concert into an unforgettable audiovisual show. The sheer precision, staggering commitment and the adoration and respect with which Great Gig perform Pink Floyd songs is what has created an ever-growing audience that eagerly awaits each of their next concerts.

A highly anticipated audiovisual show that promises to give us a unique experience. A true PINK FLOYD experience.

GADJO DILO

The beloved Gadjo Dilo, faithful to their appointment with the Athenian audience, for more unique performances at the Main Stage of Gazarte and as you can see from the love they receive from the audience, we will be having fun with them for a long time to come!

The special sound of Dadjo Dilo, “Manouche De Grec” as they call it, is a marriage of the musical tradition of gypsy jazz with the colors of Greek music. Gadjo Dilo’s passion draws the audience to dance and sing along with them every time. They improvise, experiment, and with songs from another era they bring us messages that are modern and hopeful!

As part of this latest creative campaign, William Basinski will also visit Athens for a unique performance at the Gazarte Main Stage on Saturday 27 April, at one of those occasions when the boundaries of art and the process of its reception are tested, both for the artist and the audience.

“Progressions” – where electronic music blends with classical strings and recycled percussions.

Progressions is the project of the composer and sound designer Stefan Torto in collaboration with the Blue Jays string trio and the recycled percussions duo HeadQuarters Project. Together they create a unique music show that combines electronic soundscapes, classical strings and recycled percussions.

The legendary JoJo Mayer at Gazarte Main Stage for an unforgettable night !
His performances and recordings have received rave reviews: “…destined for “Drum God” status !”( (Modern Drummer magazine).

 

Innovative Swiss drummer Jojo Mayer’s new project Me/Machine integrates human power with machine power, analog drumming with AI in an improvised duet where machine imitates man and man imitates machine.

Sergé “Jojo” Mayer’s career kick-started in the early 80s when, as an 18-year-old, he got a place in pianist Monty Alexander’s group. He continued with the jazz rock band Screaming Headless Torsos and the fusion band Intergalactic Maiden Ballet. In the early 90s, Mayer moved from Europe to New York City, worked as a sideman for a number of different artists before forming the electronica quartet Nerve, the band where Mayer developed the idea of reverse engineering, playing machine rhythms on an acoustic drum set.

 

 

 

 

Jojo Mayer is known for bringing together jazz, drum’n’bass and jungle, and electronic music has been a central influence in recent decades. Me/Machine is the next chapter in this love affair between man and machine, machine and man.

 

 

This is what the now 60-year-old drummer himself says:
“The initial impulse for ME/MACHINE came during an experimental recording session with Brian Eno shortly before the onset of the pandemic. I got struck by the ramifications generative, algorithmic technologies and AI will have on the future of music and thought: If only I had a year off, I would get down with this.”
Mayer had his year.

After the great recent success of the composer’s concert at the Herodeion and last year’s sold-out performances at GAZARTE, Minos Matsas will be at GAZARTE MAIN STAGE for four more performances from Monday 27 November.

 

 

We will hear songs from the composer’s successful career in film, television and theatre, starting with his latest hit “HISTORY”, which can be heard in the series THE DEVILS, through to the classics and much-loved “CARAVIA IN THE STARS”, “YOU ARE MY MAN”, “DREAM UNBELIEVABLE”, “AS THE WATERS”, “HAPPENING”, “HAPPINESS”, “HAPPINESS”, etc. a. as well as songs by other composers, orchestrated in the characteristic and unique way of the composer!

It’s never too late for the truth to shine, even after 55 long years.

Jazz Sabbath, the act that changed the map of music in 1968 by releasing one of the most groundbreaking groove jazz debuts in history, was destined to not get the recognition it deserved in time.

The well-known Birmingham usurpers snatched the glory that rightfully belonged to them, reworked their songs in heavy metal forms and history was forever distorted.

 

Without giving up though, the jazz trio of Adam Wakeman (who stayed close to his creation for years as a member of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne) released 2 albums (2020-2022) with the original music as it should sound and now they are on the road to restore the truth.

As part of their upcoming European tour, the legendary band will visit Athens and the Gazarte where on December 21 and 22 they will perform some of the most famous rock n roll songs in their authentic groovy jazz form.
