ORESTIS NTANTOS

“All of you alone come with me”

 

Orestis Dantos, as the lonely man’s Robin this time, descends once again into the live performance arena to save the holiday lot. With a new album in the bag, titled “loner”, he invites all Christmas outcasts to a celebration that only the initiated in sensitivity can understand.

 

On Thursday, December 28, he makes an appointment at Gazarte, together with his faithful musical companions, Leonidas Petropoulos (bass), Giorgos Kardianos (guitars, keyboards, programming) and Yannis Rizopoulos (drums). Kyrios K. plays the role of Secret Santa, while Marina Castrinou also participates.

 

The beloved musician will walk through the streets of the most important moments of his discography and will try for the first time songs from the new album.

The Swingin’ Cats – the only music band that makes you happy in a short time – with George Zervos as the band’s conductor and front man, has 14 years of presence in the Greek music scene with hundreds of performances in venues and festivals all over Greece and abroad.

Gazarte hosts the renewed performance of “Jazz Christmas with Crazy People Music”. A festive concert that promises a unique journey into the world of jazz, funk and New Orleans second line tradition. The Athens-based collective Crazy People Music has been making a mark since 2008, playing in venues all over Greece and other parts of the world, gathering enthusiastic audiences with their live performances. Their distinctive approach combines the authenticity of jazz and the dynamism of funk.

Progressions is the project of the composer and sound designer Stefan Torto in collaboration with the Blue Jays string trio and the recycled percussions duo HeadQuarters Project. Together they create a unique music show that combines electronic soundscapes, classical strings and recycled percussions.

THE SPEAKEASIES SWING BAND

The best time of the year is here! Christmas with the Speakeasies Swing Band at their annual holiday party, featuring a hot brass section and opening act the best Dixieland band in the country, the Storyville Ragtimers.
The Speakeasies Swing Band travel the world playing Swing, Jazz and Blues, blending America, Dixieland and the interwar era with the Mediterranean and the East.

 

 

In their luggage they carry their 4 albums – one of which is a Christmas album. They have shared the stage with leading international musicians, played for Hollywood stars, performed in the theatre, and occasionally turned into a big band, working with brass sections of the country’s finest brass players. With an upbeat – as always! – mood, they present a program with their own and timeless pieces of foreign and Greek repertoire to get us excited and create the right conditions for an authentic music and dance party!

 

 

 

Storyville Ragtimers were formed in Athens in 2015.
Its common references are their love for New Orleans, Storyville (the New Orleans neighborhood where jazz was born), the “sporting houses” of Basin’ Street, “Lulu White” and the “professors” who played there, the “parade” bands with the “second liners” and the Mississippi riverboat bands.

PANOS BIRBAS

Presentation of his new album ‘Dandelion’ at Gazarte Roof Stage

 

On December 12, Panos Birbas wiil be at the Gazarte Roof Stage, where he will present his brand new album Dandelion, released by United We Fly on December 8, 2023.

 

Dandelion is orchestrated by Panos Birbas himself while his compositions are based on the principles of songwriting, with a strong cinematic mood and influences from the 60s. The album also features 3 guest appearances by Rosey Blue, Lola Giannopoulou and Etten.

 

“In the LP “Dandelion” I attempted to pull back the curtain, to reveal myself as much as possible, to be as sourcey and clear as possible. To write exactly about what I love most carrying with me a vehicle ideal for words, all my favorite music.”

 

Panos Birbas is a songwriter, musician, arranger and music producer. His solo career began with the release of his first solo album “Mournful” (2013) and the single “Lullaby” (2015). In 2017 he released his second solo album “Finchley Road” on Violins Productions, featuring uncompromising arrangements, as well as interiority and lyricism. Since 2015, Panos has fronted Dustbowl and together they have performed live as opening acts for Dream Syndicate, Mark Lanegan etc.
