One of the greatest guitarists of contemporary jazz music, the musician who has redefined the electric guitar by creating his own musical vocabulary, Kurt Rosenwinkel comes to the Gazarte Main Stage on Friday, October 13th.
Kurt Rosenwinkel has been a unique and great creative voice at the forefront of contemporary music for nearly three decades. The American multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer has earned international acclaim for his distinctive style and contributions to improvisational music since first appearing on the New York stage in 1991. His legacy as the preeminent jazz guitar voice of his generation is clearly evident in his eleven albums as a leader, each of which is an inspiration to every musician around the world.
Collaborations with Eric Clapton, Q-tip, Gary Burton, Paul Motian, Joe Henderson, Brad Mehldau and Donald Fagen are but a few highlights from an extremely diverse and extensive catalogue of participation in more than 150 recordings.
In the winter of 2016, Kurt created the independent label Heartcore Records with the intention of signing and promoting a new generation of musicians whose artistic standards match his own. Heartcore also allowed Kurt to showcase his talents in another dimension of music creation, that of record producer.
With an artistic career spanning nearly 25 years, Kurt Rosenwinkel has worked with “luminaries” of the jazz scene, leaving an indelible mark on contemporary improvisational music. He is an artist who belongs to that category of musicians who have gone beyond the limits and possibilities of their instruments, managing to combine the virtuosity of a virtuoso with the genius of a great composer.
