The jazz punk quartet from Manchester, having received rave reviews from NME, So Young Mag, and BBC Radio 6, among others, for their creative blend of innovatively structured free jazz that balances between meta prog guitar and anarchically liberating saxophone, have captivated music lovers from both worlds.

Meet the Artists

Billie Kark Billie Kark is an Athens-based artist who began writing music at Mellowsophy Music’s studio during the pandemic. Her musical vision is to let her imagination run free, creating something unique and unexpected. She aims to connect two very different genres: electronic music and traditional Greek songs. Inspired by her Greek heritage, she experiments with indigenous elements such as polyphony, Greek lyrics, idioms, and sometimes local instruments. Her music draws inspiration from nature, folklore, and magic, with themes of freedom, death, and rebirth. Her sound can be described as ambient and ethereal but also dark and mysterious at times. Her poppier expression came through with “Party,” which went viral, gaining over 1 million views on YouTube and Spotify. In her performance, Billie hopes to transport us to a world of mythical creatures like fairies and forest spirits, helping us get lost in our own imagination while dancing.

olína olína lives in Athens, writing lyrics and singing about her city experiences. Sometimes they are sad and introspective, sometimes they stem from childhood memories, and other times they are sweet and romantic. However, even the darkest of her songs tend to end on a hopeful note. Her first album, “CATS ON CBD,” will be released soon by Mellowsophy Music, and the first six tracks are already available online on all platforms.

HAN NAH Inspired by the sounds of the ’90s and 2000s, HAN NAH creates unique music that blends pop and electronic elements. With her soft and sweet voice, she can navigate smooth productions and speak about her personal experiences, like in her successful track “Leo,” or explore colorful and ambient cinematic pieces like “ultraviolent,” where her angelic voice absorbs us into the intense and trippy instrumental backdrop. On May 17, she will present her melodic and electronically groovy program with Nala’s Naughty Dream.

Born and raised in Athens, Jō started playing piano and singing at a young age. At 17, she performed with Greek hip-hop artists, later forming an acoustic trio playing live pop and rock covers. Fast-forward a few years, and after expanding her influences with jazz, soul, and neo-soul sounds, Jō has found her unique style, exploring it fully for the past 1.5 years through a jazz lens with Mellowsophy Music.

Sworr. Sworr. is an electronic trio based in Athens that explores the realms of electronic music and beyond with their unique sound. Their two albums, “SWORR.” and “HONEST,” have over 2 million Spotify streams, leading us into the darker aspects of downtempo electronic music. Recently, they’ve been releasing songs like “4AM” and “WAIT.” in collaboration with Mellowsophy Music.

Kandè Kandè, the Neo-Soul/R&B Queen of Mellowsophy Music, is preparing for her much-anticipated debut EP in 2024. The captivating singer and dancer, who stood out at the Release Athens Festival 2023 and her live performance at ERT’s Urban Live Sounds, has already gained audience and radio station recognition with her dynamic vocal abilities and energizing live performances.

coslee coslee is an artist who challenges the boundaries of the Greek music scene. He masterfully combines his love for hip-hop lyrics with soulful melodies and jazz improvisations, creating a sound that’s both refined and deeply personal. His debut album, “What Feelings Sound Like,” gained public acclaim, while his two singles with Mellowsophy Music, “such a great day” and “do_Fr3ak,” have set high expectations for his musical future.

Matina Sous Peau Matina Sous Peau is a musician, producer, DJ, and singer. Born and raised in Ioannina, where she studied classical violin, she moved to Athens to study architecture. She was a member of Monitor, Papercut, and Dusk as a musician, and of My Drunken Haze and The Blue Square as a singer. She also creates mashups and song covers across different genres, some of which have appeared in airplay charts within and outside Greece. Her cover of Vlasi Bonatsos’s “Metamorphosis” has over 5 million views on YouTube and streaming platforms, and in 2021, she released her first EP, “1999,” with Mellowsophy Music, which became popular among radio stations and audiences.

Kostis Kostis made his debut with the official release of “Anthologio” and later his album, “Kapoies Kuriakes,” in collaboration with Mellowsophy Music. Over the past few years, Kostis has been living in Athens and, like many others, has found solace in music, with a primary influence from the late Manos Hadjidakis and the carefree romanticism that he pioneered in Greek music.

Gazarte Ground Stage

***

Οι Starsailor, που στα 2000s έχεις τραγουδήσει στο repeat επιτυχίες τους – ύμνους, όπως το “Four to the floor”, “Alcoholic” μέχρι το “Poor Misguided Fool”και“Good souls” – και για την ακρίβεια έχεις φαλτσάρει, κλάψει και χορέψει μέχρι τελικής πτώσεως  – επιστρέφουν στην Ελλάδα για δυο μοναδικές εμφανίσεις .

01 /11 : Αθήνα, στο Gazarte Ground Stage

Είσαι έτοιμος να σου «ξυπνήσουν» και πάλι οι τρυφερές και νοσταλγικές στιγμές των μεγάλων επιτυχιών τους, νιώθοντας live την ανατριχίλα της λυρικής φωνής του αξεπέραστου James Walsh;

Οι Starsailor έχουν κατακτήσει τη δική τους ξεχωριστή θέση στην παγκόσμια μουσική σκηνή.

Πρωτοεμφανίστηκαν το 2001 με το “Love Is Here”, κατακτώντας την κορυφή των charts και έκτοτε έγιναν οι αγαπημένοι του ραδιοφωνικού κοινού της Βρετανίας και όχι μόνο, φτάνοντας συνεχώς στις πρώτες θέσεις με τα άλμπουμ “Silence Is Easy” (2003), “On the Outside” (2005), “All the Plans” (2009) – άλμπουμ που τους βρήκαν να ισορροπούν ανάμεσα στη συμφωνική ποπ εμπνευσμένη από τα ’60s και τη σύγχρονη ροκ.

Φέτος κάνουν την επιστροφή τους με το νέο album “Where the Wild Things Grow”, το οποίο θα έχουμε τη χαρά να απολαύσουμε ζωντανά, μαζί με τις παλιές και λατρεμένες επιτυχίες τους – για δυο ηλεκτρισμένες εμφανίσεις, την Παρασκευή 01/11 στο Gazarte Ground Stage!

Friday 26 April 2024

Gazarte Ground Stage

Just before they start their first European tour, Steams appear at the Gazarte Ground Stage, in their first Athenian live after a long time.

Steams are a psych rock band from Athens. In 2018 they released their 1st album ”Wild Ferment” and started a journey that sent them on many tours, 2 sold-out vinyl releases and various local festivals. In June 2022 they released their second album ”Mild Conquest”, a contemporary tragedy that expands their sound beyond the boundaries of “classic” rock by marrying traditional instruments, polyphonics and narratives with groovy rhythms, massive guitars and Dionysian outbursts. They have performed alongside The Cure, The Black Angels, Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Khruangbin Lumerians, etc.

Their 3rd album, “Vile Wonders”, is expected to be released in 2024.

Psycada

Psycada got their name from some psychedelic cicadas that managed to infiltrate some early home recordings of the band, in the summer of 21′. They tend to play neo-psychedelic rock, put out their first album (Hiking Lung) in July 22′ and have done two live shows.

In their third live show they will play several songs from their upcoming album, which might be released in 2024.

MAUSTETYTÖT

MAUSTETYTÖT

GAZARTE Ground Stage

FRIDAY 31 MAY 2024

Maustetytöt: an anti-pop band that writes great pop songs! The musical charm of contrasts…from Finland to Athens!

Maustetytöt: The two Finnish sisters, already “starring” in the music scene of their homeland, and not only! This winter they “dressed” with their performance the black comedy Fallen Leaves by arthouse veteran Aki Kaurismäki, and became talk of the town worldwide. In the film they sing one of their most successful songs, project themselves in a dark karaoke bar, like plastic dolls, with hardly any movement of their bodies and faces, and take us on a journey into their occult world. Will the end of this story be happy or not?

Maustetytöt with their unusual musical approach – unexpectedly simple stage presence, frozen faces, surrealistic pessimistic and laconic lyrics against a background of optimistic pop rhythms, deal with “difficult” topics such as drinking, violence, mental illness and war. Maustetytöt is definitely the other side of the coin of the happiest country in the world – and that seems to lead to an excellent recipe for success!

Maustetytöt themselves declare that they play electronic pop and their lyrics, which are imbued with black humour, often speak of the Finns’ almost innate sadness “Maybe pessimism is something that lives in most Finns”, says Anna. “It’s cold and dark up here, so being happy can be difficult.”

In May 2024 the band will embark on their first major European tour in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Primavera in Spain and of course, on May 31, they will perform at the Gazarte Ground Stage in Athens!

GAZARTE GROUND STAGE

In the UNESCO lists, Pesaro, Italy is listed as a ‘Creative City of Music’, mainly because it is the birthplace of Gioacchino Rossini, composer of ‘The Barber of Seville’ and ‘William Tell’.

Secondarily, and just next to the famous operas, indie post punk is well represented by Soviet Soviet, who since 2008 have been grabbing every live opportunity that arises and building their reputation as one of the most energetic live acts on the European continent.

From 2013 onwards, their discography is regularly enriched with coldwave & artpunk touches, properly structured to work ideally in live show conditions. This is exactly their characteristic that the Greek public will have the opportunity to experience in their upcoming performance, on Friday, March 29 at Gazarte, for a unique appearance from a figure at the peak of its creative period.

THEODORE

THEODORE

SATURDAY 13 APRIL

GAZARTE GROUND STAGE

An explosive night with special guest 𝐀𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞!

On Saturday, April 13th, Theodore, in his first Athenian live show for 2024, will appear at the new Gazarte Ground Stage for a unique club show in which he and his band will present brand new material as well as favorite tracks from his entire discography.

Coming off the recent release of his single ” Aquatic ” and heading into his next two singles coming in March and April, Theodore is ushering in a new era in his sound, embracing simplicity and creating more liberated than ever before. The music he delivers, a combination of his signature alternative and post rock sound with more “decontextualized” synth pop elements, is the most honest musical version of himself yet.

He loves to compose music that creates images, stories or fairy tales, capturing it live in energetic and mysterious concerts, with amazing light shows and visuals. With a lot of enthusiasm, cinematic mood and high energy, he is looking forward to share his new material for the first time in the unique space of Gazarte Ground Stage.

𝐀𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞

Eva’s introspective melodies, Panos’ atmospheric guitars and Pavlos’ soundscapes make up the alloy of 𝐀𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞, the pop trio from Athens. Their first album “Vol.1”, released in May 2020 by Enter events, is an anthem to dystopian relationships and power games. Their sound is influenced by artists such as Portishead, Bjork, FKA Twigs, London Grammar, Alt-J with plenty of loops, soulful beats and dream pop atmosphere.
