“With a Light Heart” is a mournful yet festive varieté – a grand spectacle in budget packaging, led by two seasoned soloists who, alas, seem to have learned little from their long-standing experience.

The title is, in fact, a clear euphemism, likely misleading, since in reality, the artists were driven to collaborate rather reluctantly, under the pressure of mounting debts accumulated from careless spending and a carefree lifestyle during their own private belle époque…

As for the role distribution, they took special care to maintain a common denominator: Manolis Famellos will take on the role of the chief arranger, while Doros Demosthenous plays the chief entertainer and will, in the end, also do the accounting and serve coffee at the bar on behalf of the family.

“With a Light Heart” – like the melodrama of the same name recently released by Manolis in two acts – is a small time capsule filled with interwar-era songs and beyond, lovingly yet recklessly rearranged using both modern and recycled elements.
